Let Us Make Your Move Easier!

All cartons should be packed tight to prevent shifting during transit. Even if the items
inside are non-breakable it is still important that the box be firm and tight so that the
crew can load the truck in a secure fashion. If you need to stuff some paper at the top
of the box in order to make it firm, please do.
For furniture and large unpackable items Shamrock
provides complimentary moving blankets which the
crew will use to wrap the items. However, smaller
items are much safer and easier to move when
packed up in appropriate boxes. Remember to check
our list of non-allowables so you know which items
need to be packed in order to be shipped. Shamrock
offers full packing service, but should you choose to
pack yourself, please take the following precautions:

While we HIGHLY recommend using Shamrock's packing service, we do understand
that many customers are trying to save as much money as they can. Please
remember, though, that a poorly packed house makes it much more difficult for us to
provide you with the top notch service that we pride ourselves in. Poor packing can
cause unnecessary damage. It can also cause the job to run longer by turning what
could have been one box into multiple, time consuming carries. Should you choose to
pack your own house please take the above tips to heart. A quality packjob is a
prerequisite to a smooth, efficient move.
Mirrors and pictures should be bubble-wrapped or paper
wrapped and secured in a carton specially constructed to
prevent damage to these fragile items.
Books should be placed flat in smaller boxes due to their
heavy nature. Placing them on end can damage the
binding. Please do not pack large boxes of books. We're
strong but we're still human!
Lampshades should be packed
individually with plenty of paper
cushioning. Packing other objects with
lampshades will probably puncture
them. Remember, always make the
top firm!
Dishes should be individually wrapped
and placed on their sides in a dish
carton for safe transport. Fill the box
to limit movement and be sure to pad
both the bottom and top of each layer
for added insurance. Add lighter
things, like cups, towards the top
Use a sturdy wardrobe box for clothing suspended on hangers.
Your clothing will arrive at your new residence as clean and
wrinkle-free as when packed. This will save you many loads of
laundry and a slew of dry cleaning bills.
Electronic items such as computers, VCR's, and stereos MUST be
packaged in either the original boxes or a new box. Due to the
expensive nature of these items we cannot transport them unless
they are packed. We will make exceptions only for items like TV's
that are too large to fit in a new box.
Always label the boxes on the side rather than the top. When the
boxes are stacked they will be much easier to sort through in a
timely manner.
Packing is a vital step in the moving process
